big Oracle buy Xsigo
In all honesty, I will never understand this tendency to buy everything, often competing products and solutions. I’ve never appreciated Oracle because I think it’s a dispersive company, I imagine the poor salespeople and technicians who don’t know what to offer to the customer, what combination of their products. But I just can’t imagine at the highest levels how they can think of strategies when their ecosystem is so confused and overlapping.
In this case, however, Oracle catches my attention by buying Xsigo. A technology that we immediately liked from the first moment we met it (at a SNIA event in 2008).
We talked about Xsigo back in 2009 with this piece – Unified Computing, Cloud Computing – News or Fashion and in 2010 with this – FCoE Vs Infiniband. UCS Vs HP Matrix Vs Dell & Xsigo. I thought that Dell had now decided to buy Xsigo, so much so that on the net there were many references on infrastructures and solutions with Dell and Xsigo, even on the Dell shop portal Xsigo products were sold .
I agree with Juku, when he raises the question of an Oracle interested as VMware in SDN (Software-Defined Networking) technologies, but apparently OpenFlow/SDN are the new frontiers of the network that will completely revolutionize the way of conceiving and managing the network. For those interested, I refer you to the following link on these interesting conferences.
